Sample Post #1: Descripción del examen AP

Example: Description of the AP Exam (Post #1)

Wow, I can't believe I'm going to be a senior already this fall. I'm going to be taking 18 AP courses this year and I really think my biggest concern is that I'll be stressed out in the fall. I'm going to be playing sports every season, the president of the Key Club, a member of NHS, the guitar club, and the science club. I'll probably also have to do about 7,342 service hours next year for all of my honors societies and so I look good on my college applications. I will have to babysit my little brother every night from 4:30 until he goes to bed in addition to working 20 hours a week to help my family and to save up for after I finish high school. I think what I will need to think about the most next year is how to effectively manage my time especially because I'm planning on applying to every.single.college.and.university in the country next year. And don't forget, I'll probably apply to at least 75 scholarships but my mom and dad don't think that's enough so I'll probably do even more. Oh yeah...I also hope to find the person of my dreams to go to prom with me and my best friend just moved to Stone Bridge so I'll probably have to go on at least one vacation trip with her every weekend to catch up because I won't be able to see her in class every day. Don't forget, I'll probably also have to send over a million snapchats next year and you know, that takes up time and is way more important than AP Spanish.

I guess my plan to handle that next year is to buy a really big planner from Staples in August so I can write down all of my plans for next year that somehow magically syncs to the reminder list in my iPhone so I can keep it all straight and I guess I should maybe actually do a good job on the AP Spanish summer assignment when I'm doing it to save myself from losing my language abilities over the summer and having to catch up. I actually might be able to take control of my own learning by recognizing where I need to work myself without a teacher telling me but watch it, that's pushing it. I think it's probably a bad idea to save this assignment all for the last minute when I'll be doing my other 17 AP summer assignments and finding a new job, too, in August.

When I read those webpages Sra. Paz told us about, I learned that the AP exam consists of a reading, listening, speaking, and writing component and that it's really long (THIS IS WHERE YOU NEED TO INCLUDE MORE DETAILS ABOUT THE EXAM WHICH I'M NOT DOING IN THIS POST!!!). If I manage my time well and spread out my AP review starting now, like June, before school even starts, and keep it up throughout the year, I'll probably be just fine on this exam because I'll be prepared. I think Sra. Paz is trying to help me improve my skills little by little with this summer assignment since I can't magically get better at listening, which is my weakest skill, the week before the exam. Since I know that listening is probably my weakest skill, I decided that I'll do the required listening posts but that I want to find a series on Netflix that is in Spanish that I can watch one episode a week to try to improve. Of course, I'm not picking one that's longer than 30 minutes and of course I'm going to put subtitles on because that stuff is no joke. They talk like 8 gazillion miles an hour. And you better believe I'm not watching some boring documentary. But anyway, I love TV so at least it's an easy way for me to practice and I can watch my favorite sappy dramas all summer. Who knows? Maybe I'll forget that I'm watching it in Spanish and I'll love the series? I won't get my hopes up but I guess I can try to find something interesting.

Oh yeah, Sra. Paz, if you're reading this, you should also know that pretty much any time you talk to me about grammar in class, you're going to have to explain it in English, Spanish, ASL, and Japanese before you can even think about me understanding what you're talking about so yeah, you might want to come stop by my desk every once in a while to check on me for grammar stuff. I don't even know where to start with what questions to ask. You should also know that last year, you never really noticed that even though I had a perfect score on vocabulary, I don't have a larger vocabulary than "Hola" and "Me llamo". I never told you that my dad owns quizlet so I just got a copy of the quizzes you gave ahead of time and learned the answers in the right order so even though you think I know how to use big words, I don't because I wasn't as mature as I am this year and just memorized them for my short term memory instead of actually learning them. You should also probably know that I have to get a 5 on this exam or my life will be ruined so I'm going to need you to remind me every single day that I need to study even though I'm going to roll my eyes at you when you do it and maybe not listen to you. Just remember, I love you and I'll probably be asking myself next May why I didn't listen to you. I promise I'll write a letter to the next year's AP students that they should pay attention and start preparing early so maybe they listen. Can't wait for an awesome year!

As you saw above, this is the post where you should write about 100 words about the AP Spanish Language Exam and your concerns for next year. You should also write about some ideas of how you will need to study over the course of the summer and next year. You can include your hopes, plans, and areas of concern as well. Of course my description is much longer than 100 words, but hopefully you enjoyed it and it gave you some ideas! ;)

Here are the webpages you should use:
